Lionel Trudel received a 35mm film camera from his parents as a graduation gift. Photography near instantly became his passion. After developing his technique and honing his photographic eye, Lionel soon turned photography into a living, shooting for several portrait studios and magazines in Edmonton, Alberta. A few years later, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a full-time photographer, spending five years in Germany with the Air Force.
Upon returning to Canada, Lionel Trudel moved to the West Coast, starting a commercial photography studio in Vancouver, BC. For the next 16 years, he specialized in photography for advertising agencies and numerous magazines, and was honoured with recognition and awards for portraiture, pet and product photography.
Lionel, his wife and two young sons left the city in favour of a rural acreage near Oliver in BC’s Okanagan. For the past 15 years, he has focused primarily on shooting and producing imagery and video for wine, real estate and tourism clients.
Lionel’s more than 40 years of professional photography experience mean there is no job too large – or too small – for his talent and lens. Lionel specializes in big and vibrant scenery and nature shots but is equally comfortable in close-ups, stills, and action photography.
When he’s not on a shoot, Lionel is a passionate hiker, fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. His happiest hours are spent in the mountains, his trusty Black Labrador retriever Vena leading the way and a Nikon close at hand.
